6009PC Portfolio

6009PC Portfolio assignment brief Your portfolio should consist of two parts. Part one: You should source/create images that show important brain areas (I.e., major lobes, pathways and structures). These areas should be annotated to briefly describe the major functions/roles of these areas and any important links between areas and or structures. You should also discuss factors which may affect the functioning of these areas such as drugs, age and sleep. The description here should be brief and succinct and you should include relevant citations and references. This section should be no more than 500 words. Part two: 1. You should select one of the areas identified in the section above and critically evaluate clinical findings relevant to this brain area focussing on criminal/deviant behaviour. 2. You should identify associated criminal/deviant behaviour (you may choose to focus on one in-depth) and suggested treatment programmes (you may choose to focus on one); this may be a general approach which is associated with a general disorder but relatable to criminal/deviant behaviour. Throughout you should demonstrate an understanding of research relating to the brain area as evidenced by mostly original evidence and critically evaluating the evidence you use. In section you should present no more than 1500 words and this does not include citations and references. Formatting: Part one; 1. You should provide a short broad introduction to the area. You should consider what is clinical neuroscience, what does it involve and why is it important. 2. You should include a minimum of three images of the brain; coronal, mid-sagittal and horizontal. You should present/highlight all major lobes, 3 pathways and 3 structures. We will provide some examples to guide you on the types of images you may wish to use. 3. You should annotate the images covering all the points for part one (as above). Part two; 4. You should present a short introduction to part two setting out which area is to be detailed which covers where it is and description of appearance. 6. You should then address requirements to complete part two (as above) 7. You should finish with a short conclusion summing up your main points.
